Selecting Your Deck
With an abundance of tarot and oracle cards, finding the right fit can be a dilemma. Understanding the difference between the two types of cards is helpful and can help you decide what type of deck you are looking for.
Tarot cards are part of a structured deck with each card having a specific meaning. There are always 78 cards in the deck and each deck is broken down into Major and Minor Arcana which provide guidance depending on the combinations that are pulled in a reading.
Oracle cards are different depending on the deck you use. Each deck follows its own theme and there can be between 36-64 cards in a deck. The cards have different meanings but each message is unique to a specific deck.
How To Use the Cards
First and foremost….choose your deck carefully and get to know your cards. Spend time familiarizing yourself with each card and allow your feelings, thoughts and senses to flow.
Pay attention to first impressions. What are your first thoughts when you see the card? You may be surprised with what impressions you get, but stick with it….your intuition is kicking in.
Think of your intuition as a source of power. Set an intention before you use the cards or before you begin a reading. By setting an intention, you are more likely to receive answers that are more specific.
Use your cards daily and view them as part of your spiritual practice. You will become more familiar with the symbolism and will begin to develop your own connection to the cards and the images in them.
Meditate with your deck and be open to everything that comes. Listening to your intuition is different from listening to your thoughts. Learning to tell the difference is part of connecting to your own insights which will help in trusting your intuitive process.
