Ready, Set, Go!

The start of the new school year brings with it new beginnings and new experiences. Life is ever changing but getting ready to move forward creates new opportunities and the excitement of new possibilities. Being stuck is usually associated with two things; lack of confidence and not knowing the next step. So how do you prepare yourself when you want to create something new?

1. Recognize that life is impermanent
If you look at where you were a year ago you can see that you had no knowledge of where you are now. It’s the same thing when you look at the future. You can’t determine exactly where you will be because every moment changes the story.

2. Listen to your intuition
Trust yourself...this is your journey so set clear intentions and focus on your goals.

3. Recognize the things you have already accomplished
Keep a journal so you can look back and see how far you’ve come.

4. Have faith in yourself and the unknown
Listen to your thoughts and feelings. Focusing on external things like other people or circumstances is likely to hold you back. Don’t doubt your dreams!

5. Take small steps
Every step you take can lead to big changes. On a daily basis, list small things you can do. Small moments and small steps will get you where you want to go.

The Art of Feng Shui

Feng Shui is an ancient art that is based on the concept that “chi” or life force energy flows through us and surrounds us. When chi is not balanced in your environment, it may lead to poor health, financial problems, as well as domestic problems.

There are some simple steps to improve the feng shui in your home; clean clutter, let in lots of fresh air and light and create a home that supports your energy. Become familiar with the five basic feng shui elements and locate which area in your home would benefit from each energy. Don’t forget to find out your feng shui birth element so you are creating energy that is compatible with your own chi.

Simple Feng Shui Tools

Faceted crystals
These help to balance chi. Round crystals changes chi that is moving too slow or too fast. Octagons, hearts and rainbows enhance chi when placed near windows as they create rainbows which inspire and uplift.

The Bagua
This is a special grid which is used to analyze the layout of an area. It is placed over the floor plan of a home or a room and shows where the main areas of energy are located. By using the grid you can determine the areas related to Helpful People/Travel, Children/Creativity, Relationships and Romance, Fame, Wealth, Family and Self Development.

Strategically placed chimes can guide the flow of chi as well as slow it down.

For good luck and protection coins hung near entrances attract good luck and defend against evil. 3, 5 and 9 coins are strung on red silk ribbons.

Crystal lamps
Improve the air quality by emitting negative ions into the air.

Turtle - a symbol of serenity, security and protection
